My aviation company did flight following also...you'd call us and file
your flight plan after taking off...giving location, destination and
estimated flight time...the controller would acknowledge the flight
plan and say "call tally" meaning radio the controller that the
destination is in sight and you're switching to destinations tower
frequency and no longer needed flight following.
