The idea of deploying an entire HSL squadron on a CV was in the works when I
retired from HSL 42 in 1996 and it is just now starting to come to fruition.
HSL-44 will be the first east coast squadron to try the idea. Eventually
you will see the HS and HSL communities combine into one squadron with a mix
of SH-60F's, MH-60's and SH-60B's. The Bravo's will det out tot he small
boys while the Foxtrots and MH-60's will remain on the carrier. If and when
the SH-60R's hit the fleet it will replace both the Foxtrot and Bravo's.
