I didn't realize that anyone flying with vacuum instruments were risking
their life, well live and learn.

Of course we are, and the accident rate when the vacuum instruments
fail is fairly dismal.

This is one of the reasons for which I chose an S-Tec autopilot for
my Skylane, it does not rely on any vacuum instruments to keep the
shiny side up.
