No registration fee in CA, but I pay over $2000/yr in property tax on my
C182.

Wow! I only have to pay $1600 a year property tax on my house and nothing on
anything else I own in the UK.

Mind you there is 60 cents a litre tax on fuel bring the cost of a gallon up
to nearly $6 a US gallon.
