I can't speak to the pneumatic vs. electric question but. . .

After using a pneumatic one time, I got rid of it. The "shavings" are
little, razor sharp, half-moons of metal which dig into your shoe soles and
travel with you. They then fall out on rugs, bathroom floors, and anywhere
you will later walk in your bare feet.
