Some time ago here there was a discussion on this in which there
seemed to be a concensus that a BBQ joint at LLano (6R9) was the
spot.
Could anyone tell me:
1: Is it still?
2: Is there anyplace better in north or central Texas
to bring a foreign visitor?
The BBQ joint is Coopers BBQ in town, not on the field or even in
walking distance. http://www.coopersbbq.com . They usually have a
courtesy car at the airport, but I think Coopers can send a van to
come and pick you up too. If you're a die-hard bbq carnivore, this is
definitely a great place. Might want to call ahead and check on ride
availability before flying there.
Also down south, there's Fredericksburg / Gillespie County (T82) with
a hotel and diner on the field
http://www.hangarhotel.com/ . Get a
courtesy car into town and there's lots to see and do for a visitor --
brewpub, winery, restaurants, touristy stuff, etc.

If you're planning to spent some time flying down to the hill country,
I'd gorge myself for lunch at Coopers, then continue flying down a bit
further south to Fredericksburg and then sample the brewery & winery,
and stay overnight in one of the many bed & breakfasts or the Hangar
Hotel.
Closer to the D/FW area, take them to Cedar Mills (3T0). Nice place
with a five minute walk from the airstrip to the restaurant at the
marina. Best turf runway in Texas.... smoother than a lot of paved
ones I've landed on.
Also an ok little bbq joint in Gainesville (KGLE) called the
"SmokeHouse" just a couple miles west of the airport on highway 82,
and they usually always have two courtesy cars available at
Gainesville airport.
If you want to scare the heck out of your pax on landing and takeoff,
you can fly them to McGehee's Catfish restaurant (T40) just across
the Red River north from Gainesville. The catfish was alright, but not
outstanding the last time I was there, but it's all-you-can-eat.
