The rig allowed for a limited amount of angular misalignment -
(side to side), so staying in front of the truck was critical.
(and you have no rear view mirrors either, so the truck driver
actually had to stay behind the airplane!)
IIRC, that's what finally happened to it. Some multi-thousand
hour glider pilot let it get to far to one side and rolled the
entire rig...
