Had they been customer service driven, they would have offered a nice
discount on one of their new models. They did not, so I took my business
elsewhere.

Hi Jay,
I thought they offered you a discount towards the Airmap 500 at
Oshkosh last year but you were not impressed by its screen size?
As I recalled reading in this newsgroup, they also offered another
Airmap 300 owner credit.
It's unfortunate that the chips used in Airmap 300 were not
reliable but I would assume that faulty units would have been replaced
during the warranty period. I am not at all surprised that the chips
for Airmap300 are no longer available. In the electronic world with
new products and chips being introduced almost every week, things get
obsolete so quick and so fast. In many cases, it's cheaper and easier
to just chuck the old sutffs and buy new ones than trying to find
replacement components.
