News from the ground is the BRS Chute was deployed but did not arrest
the aircraft's descent. Early WAGS are lack of sufficient altitude to
properly deploy the chute, as the acccident occurred during take-off
phase. YMMV and wait for the NTSB Report.


I wouldn't put to much stock in the deployment report, at least
until the NTSB can verify that the pin and handle were pulled. A
post-crash fire can cause the rocket propellant to ingite, deploying
the chute long after impact.
