Because in their culture it is considered insulting to
make ones dinner guests "prepare" their own food.
Having to cut up ones own food is considered "preparing".
Everything is to be sized to allow the use of chop sticks.
although why the folks who invented the spoon don't see
the point in having one for rice escapes me.


And here I thought it was because the Communist Regime decided it would be
a breach of security to allow the people to eat their food with sharp
implements that could be used to hijack a plane.
