My friend just became a 1/3 owner of a new Cirrus SR22-G2 and took
another friend and I for a short hop down to Novato (Gnoss) from Santa
Rosa (KSTS). What a "sport scar" compared to the old 172 M that I
normally fly. I know that you all have your own opinions of the Cirrus,
so I don't feel a need to interject my own.
However I do have a question - Once while in flight, and once while
taxing, we heard and felt a distinct "clunk" come from someone forward
of the firewall. The owner said he had heard the sound once before, but
didn't know what it was (I think I would have had my A&P take a look at
it at that point, but that's just me).
So Cirrus owners... Is this clunk normal? (maybe just the castering nose
wheel "settling" -- whatever that means.)
Here are photos from yesterday's flight -
