Default Tyvek material for wing covers

A friend of mine has made some wing covers out of Tyvek, but hasn't
used them very long. Has anyone else made wing covers using Tyvek and
used them long enough to know how well they work and hold up?

It appears to be a satisfactory material (such as type 1460), and less
than $200US would be enough for an 18M wing and tail. The sewing
should be straight forward, according to my wife, and the fellow that
did have some sewn for him. I'd use them for only 3-4 weeks a year
during contests and soaring camps, so the $1600+ for Jaxida covers
seems expensive.
