Are you referring to plastic raised relief charts in 1:250,000 scale? I
purchased some for flying the Whites and Inyos at a fishing shop in Bishop, CA
a few years ago. These plastic charts are based on paper charts called JOGs
for Joint Operations Graphics. They are in 1:250,000 scale as opposed to
1:500,000 scale for TPCs and our civilian equivalent, the sectional. The
Defense Mapping Agency - DMA - sells JOGs, and for that matter TPCs and ONCs
(1:1,000,000 scale). I remember purchasing mine for about $3 apiece. DMA
should have a website and a paper catalog and even a toll free number. I'd
supply them if I had them available. The paper charts in 1:250,000 are very
good for planning and give an extremely good indication of terrain for a
pilot's purposes. DMA may be able to tell you where to get the plastic raised
relief version.
