I have a gps nav. I have a serial sync cable for my Ipaq 3630. I have
made a connector cable for the gps-nav to the sync cable. I am getting
data transfer.
Power is through the 8 pin on the db9 on the gpsnav. Can anyone
confirm the pin to receive 5 volt power on the db9 sync cable? Also if
5 volts is supplied through the serial cable will the yellow light
blink?
The voltage regulator in the GPS-NAV supplies adequate current for older
PDAs, such as the Compaq Aero 1500. It does not provide enough current for
an iPAQ, particularly if the battery needs charging. You'll probably end up
with a discharged iPAQ and/or a fried GPS-NAV. I'd suggest buying a
separate 5V power supply.
