Hilton, why don't you fill us in on what's got you thinking about a
Citation TR?
Jim,
Well, cutting a long story short, I'm been *busy* the last few months. In
May, that little device that usually shows a faint blue line instead
digitally flashed "PREGNANT", so I gave it to my wife to try (just kidding).
Instead of "PREGNANT", it should have said "NEW HOUSE" since we were about
to run out of rooms. So, the house hunting started every (potentially
flying) weekend, finally found one in November, we closed on Decmber 9,
Ashley arrived December 16. All this and working really hard on WingX for
the Pocket PC (
http://www.hiltonsoftware.com). I would like to mention
WingX more in the NGs, but then I'd be accused of being a spamming troll!

We now have a partnership with King Schools (fantastic group of people,
great company!). We've just added A/FD information for all airports,
navaids etc, Dynamic Flight Navigator, and lots of other cool stuff. OK, so
that's where my time has been going: house, girls, and WingX.
So, I've been busy, I still want to fly, but I'm (delibrately) time-limited
since I absolutely enjoy every minute with my 'girls'. I seriously
considered (and still am considering) my Comm-Glider and perhaps CFI-G. I
had planned to get 1500 hours and the get my 737 type rating (and ATP), but
1500 isn't going to come anytime soon with my (new) responsibilities, and
the 737 type rating is only simulator time. Also, jumping from 172, Archer,
Duchess type of flying to a 737, seems a tad ambitious. For the same price,
the Citation rating would give me jet time, a type-rating, a challenge, and
all in a few intense days. Since most of the work seems to be homework
before the training, the course seems to fit my requirements, and I'll by
flying a jet!
Anyway, I'd like to know what your thoughts are - whether you think it's a
great idea or if you think I've been smoking something.
BTW: The King DVD shows a preflight and a flight (John and Martha), I like
it and it is a great example of how much faster things happen. The Sportys
DVD (I've only watched a portion of it) shows the systems in more detail -
not sure what is on the rest of the DVD.
