I see a just for fun type rating... I don't know if it would interest you,
but one thing I've looked into a couple times is a DC3 type rating. There
are several outfits around the country including one "club", I think it's in
CA, where you become a member, get your type rating and then are "approved"
to put your name on their list of pilots to move the airplane around the
country for training and for airshow appearances. Plus it seems like
everybody knows a "local" DC3 which may give you the opportunity to use the
rating.

Another fun rating that you might be interested in, and a lot cheaper, would
be a multi-engine sea rating. There are a couple places in FL that do them,
usually in a Twin SeaBee, or you may be able to find a Twin Otter. Me, I
can't even swim, so it doesn't really appeal to me, but those who I know
have done it have had a blast.

Let me know if you find something... I may just have to start a new
adventure myself.
