The absolute altitude record is now only within reach of those "average
people" who are willing to risk a very high probability of brain damage
or death. The next successful absolute altitude record will almost
certainly involve use of pressure suits (or pressurized cockpit) and
liquid oxygen systems, which pushes the cost into the Fossett range...
