A two inch ball equals 50.8 mm. I would think that would be close
enough for most applications. Two inch balls are a lot cheaper.

My club has a factory L23 trailer and a 2 inch ball will not fit. The 50
mm ball (for which it was designed) works fine. I've heard of other
cases as well.
