So we're climbing out of Prairie du Chein, WI (KPDC) on a beautiful early
fall afternoon. We've just been to the local riverboat's all-you-can-eat
buffet, and Mary is flying as PIC with my 27-year old nephew in the right
seat.
I'm in the back seat with my brother-in-law, and we've just reclined our
seats to a more comfortable F-16 attitude (so I'm not whacking my
Lightspeeds on the ceiling).
The full-stretch legroom, the steady rumble of Atlas' 6 cylinders, the
gentle rocking motion caused by my nephew over-controlling the airplane, the
warm sunshine, full tummy, dry pants....
.....Zzzzzzz....
Next thing I know, we're entering the pattern at Iowa City. Almost an hour
has gone by, and I've enjoyed a deep, happy nap -- in the back seat of my
own plane. First time in over 1500 hours of flying -- who'd a thunk it?
Never thought I'd see the day. Mary laughed and said "So I guess this means
you're finally comfortable with my flying?"
:-)
