Many decades ago, when I was a kid, I read these articles, avidly. They
fueled the idea that flying might be accessible to me in spite of the fact
that my glasses precluded Air Force flying. If ordinary folks could afford
airplanes, then I could learn to fly -- so I did.
So the answer is yes, they do make an impression on the general public, but
it may take years for any impression to yield action.

newsstands...and that is a long time...there have been occasional articles
promising an airplane in every garage, or "you can build this airplane" or
whatever. If they made any impression on the general public I haven't
noticed it.
