You would think that with half the planet wearing his shoes that Phil Knight
would not have to stoop to buying a "used" jet.

Probably for availability reasons (not wanting to wait for delivery).
Maybe the one that Phill actually uses was bought NEW and this one was
for his subordinates, after all he wasn't on this particular flight.
