Avgas plummets!
The health care comes out of all the taxes.
My top income tax rate is 50% plus a sales tax (VAT) 17.5%.
But I do get 6 weeks paid vacation which I use to spend all my hard earned
money in the US. 4days in NYC in Feb, 2 weeks in Wisconsin in July (inc
Oshkosh) and 2 weeks starting Saturday in Florida.
The luxury of paying $3 a gallon.

They also have national health care. If I didn't have to pay through the
nose for private health insurance, I could afford to fly a lot more, even
at higher fuel prices.

Geez...when I see $2.00-$2.30 per liter for our foreign friends, I feel
pretty humble at $3.50 per gallon in the US!!!!!!
Keep in mind that they pay that kind of money for mogas, too.
Yes, but they pay less income tax and get a month off every year. I
think that works out well for people that fly/drive less. It is sort
of a 'pay per use' system. I guess it all works out in the end.
