And just where in Chicago would this new airport be built?

Dave, you need to read the newspapers!
The proposed location is down by Peotone VOR, about 30-40 miles south of
Chicago. It would be run by Chicago.
That's why the proposal was dropped 3-4 years ago. The local communities
weren't going to allow Chicago control over their land.
There would be plenty of graft and corruption to go around, so a deal
could yet be crafted.

Yes I read newspapers and get information from numerous other news sources
as well. Daley would have absolutely no control over the proposed third
airport in Peotone. Peotone is not Chicago. That is why he is dead set
against it or any other options that do not involve ORD such as expanding
Gary or Rockford.

The paperboy in Stadtville, Alabama must be a few weeks behind.

Runway layout at GYYThe Gary/Chicago International Airport (GYY)
located in Gary, Indiana is operated by the Gary Chicago Airport
Authority, the basis for which was formed by the Chicago Gary Airport
Compact signed in 1995. While its current operations are rather limited
it has been designed with an eye towards growth. Federal funds were
secured in January 2006 to move railroad tracks away from the northwest
corner and extend the runway to 9,000 feet, as well as expand the
terminal building. It is strategically located on the south end of Lake
Michigan about 25 miles from Chicago where the two major airports
operating there, (O'Hare Airport and Midway Airport), are strapped for
capacity. Nearby highway connections include I-90, I-80, I-94, I-65 and
the Chicago Skyway."

Chicago to Fund Most of Gary, Ind., Airport Access Road Construction
Costs
The Munster (IN) Times

GARY, Ind.--A $634,829 contract to rebuild and realign the roads that
wind
past the Gary/Chicago Airport passenger terminal was awarded Wednesday
to
Rieth-Riley Construction Co. of Gary.

Rieth-Riley was the lowest of five bidders, according to aviation
consultant
Ken Ross, and was about $60,000 under the engineer's estimate.
All but $7,445 worth of work is being funded with city of Chicago
passenger
facility charge funds, as part of a pact the airport authority struck
years
ago with the city of Chicago to work together on airport development in
the
Chicagoland region.

Approval of the contract by members of the Gary/Chicago Airport
Authority
means work can get started immediately."
