Go with light grey, specked grey is cool.

Dark colors get hot in the sun.

Yes.

The red carpet and seat materials in my plane have collected many
permanent stains in their 24 years of service. The new carpet will be
dark blue and the seat fabric will be gray speckled with darker gray and
black. I selected them partly for their stain-hiding qualities.
