Well, they already have a phone.

then remove the cockpit and the pilots altogether from commercial
aircraft, i.e., UAV version of all airliners, problem solved (and
while you are at it, offshore the remote controlling of said UAVs,
thus killing two birds in one stroke, i.e., highjacking problem,
and cost reduction for the airlines) -- then of course one could
argue that the highjacker wouldn't have to bother going into the
aircraft in the first place and could do it from the ground as well,
but you'll always have people whining about this or that...
