wander around local airports, if you can find someone who instructs part
time for the love of teaching (and they have there own 150 or the like)
that may be the cheapest way. That's what I'm doing, although I think
these folks are few and far between.

That may not work. If there is an FBO at the airport, they may want to
sell instruction so they make a bit of money. I had an independent tell
me he had to make an agreement with the FBO in order to use the ramp and
get reasonably quick fuel service.
