A MAN and a child have been killed in a glider crash south of Sydney.

Police said the motorised glider had crashed at Catherine Field, near the
Camden Valley Way, about 4pm (AEST).

Emergency services attended and found the bodies of a man and a child at
the scene.

No further details were immediately available.

An ambulance spokesman said a search was being conducted in the area after
a witness reported seeing something falling from the glider shortly before
it crashed.

There were unconfirmed reports that someone had jumped from the aircraft,
he said.

The spokesman said the dead child was believed to have been about six or
seven.

He said the bodies of both victims had been found in the wreckage.
