The entire structure does not have to melt - just enough key
components.

Nothing had to melt, just get hot enough to lose strength and yield.
With steel, this occurs well below the melting point. Hasn't anyone
ever watched a blacksmith at work?


For a physics professor he sure seems to ignore a lot of concepts such
as momentum, torque, leverage and conservation of energy...

And ignores common sense as well.
