It simply alerts you when another transponder-equipped aircraft is within 5
miles of your location; how high above or below you. It sees these aircraft
before you can see them, and ignores non-threats. Simple, and it really
works.

Is it working well for you? I understand that it can not tell you which
direction the traffic is coming from, but I like the price and
portability, since it can be used while flying airplanes as well. (I
can not afford the XRX, or can not power it in a glider)
