In the "Some folks are never satisfied" department...
Hey, if I stay at a motel near an airport I want to hear airplanes.
In the UFAF, the F-105 would pitchout right over my barrack at 0200 hr. When I
moved to Oklahoma City, I lived three miles from Tinker AFB engine runup stands.
At that time we were fixing B-52, so the engines were B-52 engines. Then when I
got marries I moved in with my wife. Her house was under the finial approach to
30 TIK, the KC-135's (707) favorite runway. You do remember the scream of a
KC-135. When I got a job a the FAA, we moved to be closer to my work. You guest
it our house in under the downwind leg 17L/35R of OKC.
It's odd I don't hear many airplanes anymore. Very seldom do I hear a carrier,
one in a great while do I hear a biz-airplane. I can't count on the OKANG any
more either. A few mouths ago I heard this loud noise outside and went out to
see what was going on. It was a flight of four C-130 in formation (diamond as I
remember) at low altitude (4,000 or 5,000) going NNE. I read in the paper that
it was the last time all eight C-130's would fly in formation. The ANG is losing
all of their C-130's. I must have hear the first flight go over and got out in
time to se the last flight going away. It's sad.
When I come to stay at your place, since you don't have elevators, can I have
the room next to the ice maker?

Of course, in the "believe it or not" category, I actually received a
comment card today from a guest who stated that their "Suite was too
quiet" -- thus proving that you really CAN'T please everyone!
