Default Soaring in Peru?

Hi fbrahic,
I saw a Pilatus B-4 and an old Weihe in a hangar on an airport (mainly
military used) some km north of Huaraz. Unfortunately I could not find
out the owners. Would have been too impressing to talk to them. The
area of Huaraz is the most impressing of the whole northern Andes with
mountains reaching 6.500m. Incredible ridges and wave systems. I was so
eager to fly when I met a French guy that took me on a tandem
paraglider flight after a hike up to 5000m

By the way, there is some soaring in Santa Cruz in the jungle in
Bolivia. The motorflying club owns at least one Super Blanik, but tow
machine was broken so no gliding for me either.

Best luck

I've spent a bunch of time in Peru. Alot of the 'extreme' sports are
centered out of Huaraz, in the northern Peruvian Andes. I know they
have parasailing up there, but I've never seen a sailplane. There are
also quite a few people who parasail the ridge lift on the waterfront
cliff of Lima's Miraflores neighborhood.

I will be in Cuzco, Peru for about three weeks in May and was wondering
if there are any soaring sites in the area. So far I have had no luck
finding any in Peru at all.

Thanks,

Tim
