How on earth can you stand all of that crap on the glare shield? There is
a reason that it is painted flat black; to keep a bunch of reflected white
from going up on the windshield, and into your eyes.

When I took my first lesson (in my Dad's C-120) the instuctor got in,
scanned the panel, said "hang on for a second" and dashed back into the FBO
where he "borrowed" a bean bag ashtray and set it on the glare shield. It
sat there for years.
