Looks to me the guy taxiing this F/A-18 from VFA-137, NAS Lemoore, is a
Commander (shiny silver leaf on the shoulder). If so, what's the name of
the Chief Warrant Officer painted on the fuselage mean?
Aircraft was enroute to Key West for a stint of Top Gun training.

The pilot's name is on the left side. Normal numbering would be CAG-210,
CO-211, XO-212.etc....... in order of seniority. The name on the nose
landing gear door is the Plane Captain (Air Force, Army, and Marines have
Crew Chiefs). There is probably another name on the left side for a second
Plane Captain from the Line Division (if your name is on the aircraft, you
will work a little extra taking care of it). The name on the right side of
the canopy is usually the name of the someone who is not a pilot (Flight
Surgeon, Maintenance Control Officer, Maintenance Chief). CWO Steiner is
probably the squadron "Gunner" (Ordnance Officer).
