ISLAMABAD, July 20 (AFP) - Islamabad's international airport
has reopened
after being closed for 17 hours Sunday when a Pakistan
International Airport (PIA) passenger jet bound for New York
aborted take off, bursting its tyres, officials said.
"The pilot applied emergency brakes before the take off after
one of its
four engines failed. This generated excessive heat and burst all
its 16 tyres, "

That's what's supposed to happen.

Sounds like the a/c was close to V1.

Very likely.

I recall the Brtitish documentary series '21st Century Jet' about the
B777. Had to do exactly this type of 'refused take-off' for
certification.

Sure enough most the tyres caught fire once it came to a stop ( after
a while ) from the intense heat in the brakes.

No big deal - it worked like it's supposed to. ( Bertie's right -
damn well should be if he's really an airline pilot ).

Go **** yourself you wannbe asshole planespotting Netkopping ****.
