The nearest Lynx is in Iraq. The British Army only has Apaches in
Afghanistan. They considered using an RAF Chinook which was to
hand, as well as a ground attempt using Vikings. However, the fort
area was still in the hands of the Taliban so the Apache was chosen
because it was smaller, faster and better armed.
