There will be 3 variants of the F-35. The STOVL version is going to the US
Marines and the Brits
It's not really an 'option' because the aircraft must be built for STOVL
use....you couldn't convert either of the other two models once built.
Yeh, I know. Option was a bad choice of words. The Aus Navy has said it
was going to acquire STOL F35s to operate from a Landing Platform-type ship.
I never realised that the F35 was capable of vertical takeoff.
