I had a similar problem with an English prof when I was in college. I
used "learnt" in an essay and she marked it wrong. Being the lazy bum
that I am, if WordPerfect didn't flag it as wrong, it was good enough for
me. I insisted I was right and she looked it up to prove me wrong only to
find I was right. Some college profs get a god complex and have a hard
time handling being proved wrong...
Boy, you showed *her*, Tony. I'm sure it didn't reflect on your final
grade - nor recommendations for graduate studies. I'll bet you're a real
hoot at work! Many a supervisor makes mistreaks which need correcting.
You GO, boy!

The mistake on her part would have cost me a grade on the paper. I did
OK in the rest of the class. I found that keeping good records was a
good defense for college profs that decide to grade on a personal likes
rather than what I learnt in class. I'd rather take a stand than be a
sheep...

Tony,
Nobody has ever remotely accused me of being a sheep
in my 69 years on this planet. Rich S. knows what I'm like. :-)
If you are met in life with the same penalties that have
befallen me, you will realize waay too late...
it wasn't worth it.
Take heed of the advice that Rich S has so uniquely given
you and save yourself a lot of future grief and heartache.
If I had my life to do over again, I certainly would still be true
to myself and my values, but would sugar coat the truth with
so much ****in' honey, my detractors would die of diabetes!!!!
