"War of the Worlds" Aircraft - Crash Scene

Okay, so all three machines are models. It's still a
well-constructed diorama.
They say that the wires which held up the fighting
machines were invisible in the original Technicolor
release of the movie, but they showed up when the
film was reprinted in a different film format.

If you order the "Limited Edition DVD there is an explanation about the
problem of Technicolor and the conversion process and digital process.
I didn't even bother to watch the Tom Cruise version. A couple of my
friends saw it and were all a twitter about the FX. George Pal still
wins that bet with me.
They also described how the Christian Minister part was virtually
eliminated, which I always thought was a powerful vignette about which
reflected the battle between "godless communism and god-is-on-our-side
USA values".
