Glorious photo. Thanks!

Just to the right of the forward lift strut was my father's "window on
the world", about '41-'45. He was a flight engineer in USN Catalinas
based in Norfolk, JAX, Coco Solo, Galapagos, San Diego and Whidbey. He
left the war uninjured.

My wife's Australian father, as a teenager, crippled his arm in a pre-
war accident and wasn't allowed to serve. His elder brother was a gunner
in Singapore, was later captured, and died in the Sandakan Death March.
Her mother's father was a coast watcher in New Guinea, evaded the
Japanese for many months, and was carried out of the jungle by kindly
natives to recover from malaria.

The older I become, the more respect I have for the Greatest Generation
(of all countries) that fought evil.
