Default Engine Failure? - 1 attachment

I have this picture in a book called Gun Camera.

The caption follows.

"During a mission over Southern France a B-26 Marauder takes a direct
hit to its right engine, which can be seen falling away at the bottom
of the picture, the prop still spinning. Severed hydraulics propably
account for the release of the landing gear housed behind the engine.
The pilot was unable to regain control of the plane and crashed
moments after this picture was taken."

It does not tell of the fate of the crew. But the word moments seems
like a too short time to escape in my opinion.

More like a direct hit from flak, I think.
