ID this plane if you can......
I got back from a trip to New England last night.
Went to the Blue Angel airshow practice this morning and then to the museum
library. They say the parts sitting outside the hangar are from Chance
Vought F4U-7 Corsair BUNO 133704 which was on loan to the Battleship Alabama
exposition. It was on display with tail number 129359 as an AU-1 for some
reason or another. The aircraft was damaged by hurricanes and won't be
restored until someone donates a whole passel of money. So sad.

Even more frustrating for me is that I have a very hazy memory of a
Korean War vintage restored Corsair in the markings VMA 212. Okay
boys and girls get the electrodes out it's time for my electro shock
treatment to jump start my mental hard drive.
Damn this is very frustrating because the more I think about it this
aircraft, the more I am sure that I have seen it in one piece, but
where?

From the corrosion showing at the lower part of the inner fuselage
I would vertune to say she sat exposed to rain for a long time.
lots of pooling water..
as well as the rust apparent on the propellor shaft splines.
