OMG, that looks like a gun! BTW, why is the roundel red in the center, but
on the tail, it's white in the center?

British aircraft roundels were eventually designed to use the French
colours in reverse, red-white-blue from center to rim (see picture)
The flag on the tail is called Fin flash

Do the French have a monopoly on the use of red, white and blue?

The blue-white-red roundel is an old military and national insignia,
used for more than two centuries. This naturally led to its use during
WWI. Then the RFC chose the same pattern. I personally don't know if
this pattern is traditional and/or historical in GB.
Australia, New-Zealand, and Canada used a blue-white-red symbol
roundel.
Costa Rica has a roundel similar to the British one (same order of
colours); and the one of Paraguay looks like the French one.

USA used a blue white red one during WWI :

Russia - ) - once used a similar roundel, former Yougoslavian
provinces also have blue-white-red based roundels. Blue white and red
also are traditional colours of slavic nations.
Thailand has a unique different arrangement of the stripes.

Bye
