Yunno folks we enjoy the beauty of the plane.

We enjoy seeing them flying through the air.

We imagine what it would be like to be the pilot.

BUT - At times we tend to forget about the unsung heroes that actually
do the repairs, move them around on the ground, put the fuel in, make
sure there is air in the tires..... you get the picture.

This is a little off topic but the other week on PBS here in CANADA
there was a documentary about some national guard unit from Kansas
( correct me if I am wrong ) that had a herd of chinooks.

They were mobilized to Afghanistan by way of a side trip to Pakistan to
help with a earthquake relief.

It was interesting to see some of the behind scenes required to make
these chinooks ready for air transport half way around the world.

All of the parts, machinery, tools, vehicles, medical concerns, food,
clothes, personal effects, etc that had to be taken care of before even
one chinook could be loaded onto a transport plane.

They showed them flying in rugged high altitude war zones but there was
a lot of footage of the behind the scenes activity required to keep the
airborne.

It was a very interesting documentary.
