Given my estimation of its glide ratio, that would be my guess.
Unless it's one of those things that gets towed behind a car. Then
again, it could be a mailbox.
Pretty expensive mailbox.
Not the prototype for this? ;-)

Naw,... the Cri-Cri is a very successful airplane, this roadside
wonder isn't, obviously.
Neat vid of the Cri-Cri though. Sure looks like a fun thing, sort of
like strapping on wings and being a Barn Swallow for a while. I
wish......
But I am still looking.

It might be a Unique, constructed by a garage tinkerer. Photos of the
interior, engine and details would be helpful. I was actually in
Tucumcari in early August, during one of my trips out to and back from
Fort Huachuca, AZ. Part of my mother's family is from New Mexico
(Skeen, Hardin, Adamson) Had my pickup truck too so I could have just
loaded it on board. Drat!
Cheers,
Dave
Well Dave, there was no engine, it had been removed some time ago. I
took no pics of the interior but did look for a N number anywhere that
might have lead me to a builder in the FAA database, but no joy. As I
live just east of OKC and I get through New Mexico maybe once every year
or so I won't be able to help with any more pics. Sorry.
Next time you are out that way, check and see if it is still there, the
owner was asking $5,500 but I think that was a pie in the sky sum, more
like $550 would be accurate. No engine and some leading edge damage and
lots of neglect.
Best to you,
George
Thanks for the heads up George, I'll be heading back to Fort Huachuca in
January and will take a look. Can you give me an exact location? Not
that Tucumcari is all that big ... Of course my mom's family comes from
the area around Pichacho, NM and not only does everyone know each other,
just about everyone is married to each other one way or another.
I'll keep the group posted.
Cheers,
Dave
