Oh! I have slipped the furry bonds of earth

and slid through corners on laughter-silvered wings

Furnitureward I've climbed

and joined the tumbling mirth of fresh laundry

And eaten a hundred things you have not dreamed of

Sniffed and scratched and licked high in the gaze of neighbors

Hov'ring there, I've chased the shouting cars along

and flung my panting tongue through footless halls of homes

Up, up the long delirious pant legs of strangers

I've topped the countertops with easy grace

Where never cat, or even toddler flew

And, while with silent lifting leg

I've trod the high untracked carpet of space

Put out my paw and touched the face of Dog
