Default HP iPaq hx4700 issues

I have a HP hx4700 series palmtop with bunch of batteries, the issue
seems to be that if the battery pack goes dead completely; Ipaq does
not charge it. Then if you install a battery that still holds some
charge and put back in the cradle it will turn on and function
properly. Is there another data loss preventing battery installed
inside maybe?
Any help will be appreciated,

GK:

I have experienced that same condition on a 5555. I though the unit
was dead and I was ready to ship it back to HP for repair. Then I
found on a HP discussion group that some iPAQ will NOT show signs of
battery charge until battery voltage goes over certain levels... try
leaving your unit on the cradle an hour or two before trying to soft
reset it... hope this helps!
