................. i'm not that old, BTW...................
Sooner or later we all sail up that big river in
Egypt..........Oh!
I
wasn't talking about you, Bertie..............just thinking out
loud.
..............I'm just sayin' ......... : -)
Well, he's talking retired old. I'm not that old is what I meant..
Bertie
Yeah, retirement.........when you stop doing the things that define
you,
work or play............THAT's when you start getting old.
Mmm, maybe, I always thougth work kept me from doing the things that
dfine me, though!
Bertie
Those "things" have a way of changing or morphing as we grow older. So
some of the things I did in my 20's and 30's are different than the
things that interested me in my 40's-50's but looking back they seem
the same to me. As far as work goes, most people spend most of their
waking lives working so you may as well do something you like.......or
can learn to like........or pretend to like. Just don't let it keep
you from playing. My dad, in his mid-80's, retired from gainful
employment almost 20 years ago but he spends his days taking care of
his mini-ranch......15-20 head of cattle and several acres. He and my
mother do it all by themselves. They keep the place immaculate. I know
that keeps them going. After the great depression, war, kids, career,
etc. he's back doing what he was doing before all that. As a young man
he couldn't wait to get away. Now he's perfectly content to be back
there. We should all be so lucky.
TP
Guess I have stunted development! Still doing the same things!
