Great day for flying
Ceilings 300OVC, took off and was in the soup within just a few seconds,
mild turbulence through the climb, adjusting pitch, power, props, cowl
flaps, and comms while climbing turning, and talking to ATC. Decided to hand
fly rather than rely on the autopilot. (Wouldn't want to lose an engine at
that moment.)
Destination: did a standard ILS, an LPV GPS approach, followed by around
four turns in a hold over a VOR, then more enroute. Ended with a VOR/GPS
with absolutely no ground contact at minimums (800), and finally vectors to
an ILS, breaking out 100 feet over minimums with a quartering tailwind.
Hope to do more of the same at different airports tomorrow, only at night.
Who could ask for more, and yes, it was in an actual airplane, not some play
game. What fun, and what a great challenge!
