The usage of colloquialisms is a worldwide phenomena and the only
constraint upon reporters is they report .
Look at the rubbish about flying that appears in papers and on TV.
Example:
It was reported that a Cessna had no nose gear light so the 'student
pilot' with three passengers onboard carried out a forced landing.
Except the aircraft was a Piper Saratoga and the pilot was (as you've
guessed by now ) a commercial pilot


But, then, I heard a local TV "journalist" last week pronounce a
certain *disease as "Choe-Lear'-ia".
