My father returned to the US on some variety of B-24. The pilot came on
the PA and said "We just lost engine #3" - usually that means the

When bucket seats became popular in cars (yes, I am tht old) he said
that he had rridden in an airplane that had bucket seats, only they
were real buckets. I don't know if this was the same flight or not, but
he did most of his Pacific cruise in troopships, so it may well have
been.

Speaking of Pacific crusies, I guess you could say the cruise was taken
via the Presidents Line. In his case I believe the troopship for the
leg from Saipan to Ie Shima was an ex-President Line ship converted to
a hospital ship converted to a troopship.
